Entries are eligible from emerging scholars who are:

a) members of ASAH for 2023,

b) currently studying a postgraduate degree or awarded an Honours or postgraduate degree after January 1, 2020,

c) either graduated from, studying, or affiliated with at a university in Australia or New Zealand; or a citizen or permanent resident of Australia or New Zealand anywhere in the world.

Entries consist of a previously unpublished academic paper (5000-7000 words, including footnotes) on any subject in Asian Humanities. Submissions should contain an abstract and keywords and follow JOSAH style (see JOSAH Style Guide). Entry is by email attachment to josaheditor@sydney.edu.au, with Emerging Scholar Award marked in the subject and information in the email on how you meet the eligibility conditions. Eligibility exemptions may be granted where applicants have had significant career interruptions, in line with how such exemptions are considered for grants at Australian institutions. The paper shall not be available online or submitted for consideration elsewhere.
